Short answer
Up to three. A 20 ft expandable container house opens to 6300 × 5900 mm and gives about 35 m² inside, and we build it in one, two and three bedroom layouts, each with a living room, kitchen and bathroom. A 20 ft unit that does not expand, such as our 5900 × 2450 mm folding unit, holds one room.
The Three 20 ft Layouts
| Plan | Bedrooms | Rooms | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| EC-A1 | 1 | bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom | a couple, a site manager or a guest house |
| EC-A2 | 2 | 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom | a small family or two staff |
| EC-A3 | 3 | 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom | staff housing with compact rooms |
All three plans use the same 20 ft unit: inside 6140 × 5640 × 2240 mm, about 35 m².
Because the floor area is the same, every extra bedroom makes each room smaller. The three-bedroom plan suits staff housing better than a family home. Room sizes are shown on each floor plan drawing.
Why the Floor Area Stays at About 35 m²
The bedroom count is set by the inside walls, not by the unit. A 20 ft expandable unit ships folded about 2200 mm wide and opens to 6300 × 5900 × 2480 mm outside; inside that is 6140 × 5640 mm, about 35 m², with 2240 mm ceiling height. Kitchen, bathroom and wiring are fitted in our factory, and the unit opens on site in about two hours.
Need Bigger Bedrooms? Compare 30 ft and 40 ft
| Size | Inside | Inside area | Layouts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 ft | 6140 × 5640 mm | about 35 m² | 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms |
| 30 ft | 6140 × 8740 mm | about 54 m² | 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms; the 1 bedroom plan has 2 living areas |
| 40 ft | 6140 × 11250 mm | about 69 m² | 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms; the 1 bedroom plan adds dining and work areas |
Nine standard floor plans in total. Final sizes are confirmed on the quote drawing.
For a family wanting three bedrooms, a 30 ft or 40 ft unit gives about 54 or 69 m² to share.
20 ft Units That Do Not Expand
Our 20 ft folding unit is 5900 × 2450 × 2500 mm outside, about 14.5 m² of footprint. It is fitted out as one office, one dormitory room, a bedroom with living area or a guest suite - not a multi-bedroom home. A flat pack unit, 5975 × 2435 × 2810 mm, is also one room, but units join into larger buildings. Model 700 opens to 5900 × 4800 mm; its layout is confirmed on the quote.
