Short answer
Yes. Our expandable container homes have rockwool sandwich panel walls, a steel skin roof and calcium silicate board floors, with wiring and an air conditioner position fitted in the factory. Rooms are 2240 mm high inside. The panel core and thickness for your climate are confirmed on your quote drawing.
What the Walls, Roof and Floor Are Made Of
| Part | Material | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | Galvanized steel strip | Carries the walls and the opening sections |
| Walls | Rockwool sandwich panel | Two steel sheets with an insulating rockwool core |
| Roof | Steel skin roofing | Outer weather layer |
| Floor | Calcium silicate board | Floor surface fitted in the factory |
| Door and windows | Steel door, UPVC windows | Closes the envelope |
From the cutaway drawing of our expandable unit. Panel thickness is confirmed on the quote drawing.
For comparison, our folding units have 50 mm rockwool sandwich panel walls, and our flat pack units are supplied with EPS or rockwool sandwich panels.
Rockwool or EPS: What the Panel Core Means
A sandwich panel is two steel sheets bonded to an insulating core. Rockwool is a mineral fibre made from stone; EPS is expanded polystyrene foam, which is lighter. Our expandable standard is rockwool. How well a wall keeps heat in or out depends on the core material and its thickness, so we do not publish R-values or U-values here. Tell us your climate and we confirm the panel specification on the quote drawing.
What to Specify for a Hot Climate
- An air conditioner position in each room - every one of our nine floor plans has one
- A light exterior colour from our 8 standard colours, since light surfaces take up less sun
- Window size and position on the drawing, keeping large UPVC windows away from the afternoon sun
- Canopies or a balcony as a finish option for shade over doors and windows
What to Specify for a Cold Climate
- The rockwool sandwich panel core and thickness, confirmed on the quote drawing
- Your heating type, so the factory wiring and sockets match it
- A raised base on level, drained ground under the corners, not on wet soil
- Ventilation in the bathroom and kitchen to limit condensation on cold surfaces
Limits and How We Confirm Them
Be honest about the use. Inside height is 2240 mm, and if the house must meet a local residential energy or building code, check the rules with your local building authority before ordering and send them to us. We are the factory, with production bases in Shandong and Guangdong: send your site location and use, and we send a layout drawing, panel specification and container loading plan with the FOB China quote within one working day.
This suits individuals and small developers building homes and rental units, contractors housing staff on site, and dealers who need a clear specification to resell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are expandable container homes hot in summer?
They can be without planning. Every layout has an air conditioner position, and a light exterior colour, shading and window placement on the drawing all reduce heat gain.
Can I add air conditioning?
Yes. Each layout has an air conditioner position; the unit is fitted on site or in the factory as quoted. Rooms are 2240 mm high inside.
Do folding and flat pack units have the same insulation?
Similar construction. Folding units have 50 mm rockwool sandwich panel walls; flat pack units come with EPS or rockwool sandwich panels.
